Most Reverend Sebastian A. Dalis, D.D.
Bishop Sebastian Acol Dalis is the third native bishop of Montañosa and second from the Diocesan Clergy. He was born on March 25, 1925 in Sablan, Province of Benguet. He began his seminary formation at the Seminario de la Immaculada Conception in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. He finished his theological schooling at the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Barangay Pantay Daya in the year 1953. His class is among the smallest number of graduates in the history of the seminary only having five. But their class is very notable to have produced three bishops.
Bishop Dalis was ordained to the priesthood on December 15, 1953 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral in Baguio City. He served as an active priest and collaborator of the late Bishop William Brasseur. He also worked under the Episcopacy of his former classmate, Bishop Madangeng. In 1987, the Holy See named him Titular Bishop of Thabraca and Auxillary Bishop of Montañosa. He was ordained as bishop on February 25, 1988. Together with Bishop Salgado, he worked in tending the flock in the said vicariate. While Auxillary Bishop, he also labored on the formation of young seminarians as rector of the San Pablo Major Seminary in 1989 to 1991. After his term in San Pablo Seminary, he was appointed rector of the Cathedral of Baguio. On July 2, 1992, the Vicariate of Montañosa was divided into three vicariates, one among the divisions is the Vicariate of Baguio. Bishop Dalis was named Auxillary Bishop of Baguio and served as such until his retirement on March 25, 2000.
