Most Rev. Jesus Aputen Cabrera D.D.

Bishop Jesus Aputen Cabrera is known to be the first Bishop of the Diocese of Alaminos. He was born on December 12, 1940 in Manila but his family is native of Mangaldan, Pangasinan. He took his Presbyterial Formation at the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary. He was ordained Deacon on December 21, 1963 by Archbishop Juan Sison. On April 11, 1964, he was ordained to the Priesthood. He served as a presbyter at the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan from 1964 to 1980. His early years in the ministry were spent as Assistant Parish Priest in Urdaneta and Malasiqui. In 1973, he became Rector of the experimental Immaculate Conception Collegiate Seminary in Guisad, Baguio City. He was also appointed Rector of the Mary Help of Christians High School Seminary in Binmaley. He later became Parish Priest of Calasiao and also served as Director of Vocation of the Archdiocese. On May 5, 1980 he was named Titular Bishop of Tisiduo and Auxiliary Bishop of Lingayen-Dagupan. This made him the fifth native of Pangasinan and third from the Diocesan Clergy to become a Bishop. His Episcopal Ordination was on July 1, 1980.

On January 12, 1985, the Holy See separated the Western part of the vast Province of Pangasinan from the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan and created the Diocese of Alaminos. Bishop Cabrera was appointed as Shepherd of Souls of the newly errected ecclesiastical territory on April 22, 1985. He took possession of the diocese on June 28, 1985. Up to the present, Bishop Cabrera takes care of the Pastoral Ministry in Alaminos, guided by the motto, Ut Omens Unum Sint (That All May Be One).
